Academic Activities :
 

 Samsad organizes the Sanskrit Examination of Adya, Madhya & Upadhi every year by its own expenses. This year the examination was held at Sri Sitaram Vaidic Adarsha Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya on December 26 to 29, 2018. About 500 students from many Sanskrit Chatuspathees along with the students of schools, colleges and universities were appeared in the examination. 

The Written and Viva Examinations of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain, a wing of  Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India were conducted by Samsad. The Written Examination of  1st to 4th year was held on March 23rd, 2019 and the Annual Veda Examination of 1st to  6th year was conducted at Samsad’s head office  on March 22 & 24, 2019. Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the Samsad, Sri Samrat Chatterjee and Sri Mukundadas Bandyopadhyay, Members of the Samsad were present. Whole the Examination was completed under the able guidance of Dr. Narayana Dash, Respected Observer and Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji, Respected Center Superintendent and Registrar of the Samsad.

Samsad organized an assembly on September 11, 2018 to commemorate the 125th year of the Great Chicago Speech by Swami Vivekananda. All the students and teachers were present. Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji, Registrar of the samsad presided the programme. 
 
“All Bengal Sanskrit Talent Festival” was organized by Samsad on December 28 and 29, 2019 at Sitaram Vaidik Adarsha Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya under the auspices of Government of West Bengal, Department of Higher Education, Science & Technology and Bio-technology.  Many programmes like Sanskrit debate, quiz, Music Competitions were organized. Students from all over the state were participated in the programmes. Dignitaries like  Dr. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Sri Asit Chakraborty, Dr. Bishwanath Biswas, Swami Jayananda Maharaj were present in the prize distribution ceremony.

“Yuva Divas” was celebrated by the Samsad on 12th January, 2019 – The Holy Birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In this occasion an assembly was organised. Teachers reasoned the importance of the day to the students.

 
Cultural Activiries :
 

Samsad celebrated the holy birthday of “Adi Shankaracharya” on 20th April, 2018. Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji explained the importance of Acharya Shankar in Indian Philosophy and Spiritualism.

Samsad Celebrated the Bengali New Year through a beautiful cultural programme as ‘Barsha Baran’.  Dr. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Sri Baiswanar Chattopadhyay, Local Councillor, Mrs. Ratna Mitra, Vice- President of the Samsad and Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the Samsad graced the occasion. 

Celebration of ‘Rabindra Jayanti’ was held by Sasmsad on  May 18th, 2018. Dr. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Mrs. Manabi Majumder, Sri Baiswanar Chattopadhyay, Dr. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Prof. Mamata Sarkar and Sri Subhadeep Mukhopadhyay graced the occasion. A Musical Programme was organized by Satabhisha Sarkar, Babita Malakar and Abarno Chatterjee. All the students and teachers were present.

Holy “Rathayatra” of Sri Jagannath Dev was celebrated ceremoniously by the students on July 14, 2018.

‘Gurupurnima’ festival was celebrated by the students & the teachers of the Samsad  on 27th  July, 2018. Mrs. Ratna Mitra, Vice- President of the Samsad and Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the Samsad were present in this programme.

“Independence Day’’ was celebrated in the Samsad on August 15, 2018. The programme commenced with the hoisting of National Flag by Aditya Kumar Jha, the youngest student of the Samsad along with Vedic Mantra and National Anthem. A short compact programme was performed by the teachers and the students of the Samsad. Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji explained the importance of the day to the students.  At the end sweets were distributed.

“33rd Foundation Day” of the Samsad was grandly celebrated on September 04, 2018 at ‘Vaikunthadham’, 107, Southern Avenue, Kolkata- 700 029 under the auspices of Government of West Bengal, Department of Higher Education, Science & Technology and Bio-technology.. The eminent scholars who graced the occasion by their enchanting speeches were Dr. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Prof. Paula Bandyopadhyay, Prof. Uma Chattopadhyay, Dr. Arundhuti Mukherjee, Prof. Loknath Chakraborty, Local Councilor- Sri Baiswanar Chattopadhyay, Mrs. Ratna Mitra, Vice- President of the Samsad, Mr. Abhijoy Mitra, Working President of the samsad, Professor Pathasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Director of the Samsad. Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the Samsad and Sri Samrat Chatterjee, Member of the Samsad were present in the programme.

On September 5, 2018 ‘Teacher’s day’ was organized by the students of the Samsad. Samsad’s teacher Sri Gopal Chakraborty, Pt. Rajkumar Mishra, Pt. Uttam Kumar Pathak, Pt. Parthapatim Chakraborty and Pt. Joy Banerjee were present in the programme.

Sharad Bandana was celebrated by the Samsad with great enthusiasm. A cultural programme was arranged in this occasion. Dr. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Dr. Uma Chattopadhyay and Dr. Tapan Sankar Bhattacharyya graced the occasion. All the students and teachers along with Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the samsad and Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji, Registrar of the samsad were present in the programme.

“Geeta Jayanti” was celebrated by the Samsad on December 18, 2018 with great enthusiasm. On this occasion rituals, Yajna were conducted by the students of the Samsad.

Netaji Birthday was celebrated by the Samsad as “Deshaprem Divas” on January 23, 2019. All the students and teachers participated. National flag was hoisted by the students. Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji told about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to the students as a story.

“Republic day” was celebrated by the Samsad spontaneously on January 26, 2019. All the students and teachers were participated. National flag was hoisted along with Veda Mantra and National Anthem. A little assembly was organized. Dr. Suresh Kumar Banerji described the importance of the day to the students.

“Saraswati Puja” was celebrated this year on February 10, 2019 with great enthusiasm by the students and teachers of the Samsad. At the end of the Puja, prasad was distributed among the students and teachers. A cultural programme was also organized in the evening by the students of the Samsad in the evening.

On February 21, 2019 International Mother Language Day was celebrated in the Samsad. Teachers of the Samsad expressed their feelings about the Mother Language. Dr. Suresh Kumar Barnerji explained the importance of the particular day. Students recited poems in their mother languages.

Omkar Panchami was celebrated in the Samsad hall on February 24, 2019 as it is the holy birthday of Thakur Sitaramdas Omkarnathdev. Mrs. Ratna Mitra, Vice- President of the Samsad, Mr. Abhijoy Mitra, Working President of the Samsad, Mr. Devjoy Mitra, Treasurer of the Samsad and Sri Shyamsundar Ganguly, Joint Secretary of the Samsad were present.

The Samsad has a publication wing and a few books on Indology, Sanskrit and Bengali literature have already been published and few others are under process. The following are the titles published till date by the Samsad:

Research Wing:

The Institute is extending facilities to Research Scholars to carry out Research on diverse problems of Indology under the guidance of experts in the respective fields. The Samsad has already established itself as a premier institute in the country in the field of Research. As recommended by the State Government the following projects have earlier been allotted to it by the Government of India:

  • Compilation of Anthology
  • Art of Life
  • Compilation of a Dictionary of Sanskrit Poetics
  • Iswar Chandra, Bankim Chandra, Swami- Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and Rabindranath Tagore in Sanskrit.
  • Translation of certain Sanskrit Texts into Bengali
  • Status of Tista-Brahmaputra Valley in Sanskrit Literature, with a special assistance from Smt. Mahasveta Devi(a National Professor) and Mr. Jyotiska Ranjan Sarkar (a Research Scholar).  
  • Translation of Kavyadarsha and Sahitya Darpan
  • Pandits : Twentieth Century Bengal’s Contribution to Classical Indian Philosophy.
  • Reprinting of rare and valuable works on Sanskrit Knowledge System.
    The Samsad has already completed some of the above projects and is carrying on with the rest in the most satisfactory manner.
